Deciding What to Make (from the old blog)

Every day I write a list of ten things.

It’s a different list every day. The topic can be anything.

Today’s list was:

Ten reasons I don’t know what to make next

  1. I don’t value some subjects as much as others.

  2. I don’t value some processes as much as others.

  3. I can’t decide if a certain picture is ‘worth it’.

  4. I’ve not determined what ‘worth it’ means.

  5. I only want to make the ‘right’ picture, and because of #3 and 4, I don’t know what’s right.

  6. I want to make too many different things, I don’t want to say ‘no’ to any of them.

  7. I care too much about doing something well, instead of caring that I simply tried to make it.

  8. Self-sabotage!

  9. I can’t decide between starting a long project and finishing a short project.

  10. I could just study German…

Too often when I find time to work on a personal project, I find myself worrying about what I should be working on - and end up wasting most of my time not working.

Tackling this list head-on is hopefully a step in the right direction of getting over this self-imposed problem.

Picture note:

Bewölkt is German for ‘cloudy’.
