Starting the Book - in a Sketchbook

Like all good projects, the art book project is starting to take shape inside a couple of sketchbooks - three sketchbooks and one journal, if we’re being precise. It hasn’t left the sketchbooks yet, as I’ve not been able to devote a large chunk of time to it, but I’m finding a half-hour here and there where I can jot down ideas and make new lists. I don’t have a strict timeline, so it’s okay that it’s simmering along, but I do want to start making some dummy pages soon.

I’ll use the dummy pages to see if the idea I currently have “feels” like a book when they’re gathered together in a sequence, and then the sequence will change, I’ll add pages, subtract pages - all using temporary artwork FPO (for placement only). Once I have a rough shape, then it’ll be time to make the first actual pages, and hope that they match my ambition, at least a little bit.

I realise that I’m still being cagey about what the book is “about”, but that’s work I’ll do in private for a bit longer. I’ll keep sharing pictures though, because I love process pictures.
