10 Fotos, Februar
February wasn’t my best month for photography. Pulling ten this month was a bit of a challenge, but based on how I think about this project, if it wasn’t a challenge, it might not be worth it.
Towards the end of the month we flew to Los Angeles to visit family and unsurprisingly three of this months ten are travel pictures. Travel photography is, in some ways, photography in “easy mode”. Because you’re seeing new things, because you’re kicked out of your rhythm, your eye is that little bit more awake. I take more photographs when I travel than when I’m at home, even though Berlin has as many interesting things to photograph as LA or as, in this case, Charles de Gaulle airport. That’s one twinkly ceiling.
Germans generally have a different, less-welcoming attitude towards “street photography” than Americans and I don’t take a lot of pictures of random people - but when I saw the “I love your mom” graffiti in the U-Bahn, I had to capture it. The people are secondary, though I love the pop of orange and red from the woman on the left.
And here is my first cat photograph of 2024. If you were to go through my phone however, you’d find dozens and dozens more. February also features my third studio picture of the year, largely because I spent a lot of time photographing work.
And lastly that apartment buzzer. Ach! Beautiful functional design. I love the palette, the lettering, everything.
