Centennial Hall, Wrocław

Spring has come to eastern Europe and this month’s ten photographs come from Poland and Germany.

14 months ago Caroline booked a tattoo appointment with a Polish tattoo artist who has a studio in Wrocław and while she spent two days inside a (very cool) tattoo studio, I wandered the streets, took photographs and visited a half-dozen museums. It was, for me, an outstanding, rudderless trip. For Caroline it was also a really good trip and she comes away from it with a souvenir she’ll have for life (and that looks amazing). She wrote a newsletter talking about the experience here and I could not recommend it more highly.

My other recommendation is Pawilon Czterech Kopuł, or the Four Domes Pavillion. Their permanent collection of Polish art from the second half of the 20th and early 21st century is incredible. Do I have any photographs of it here? Of course not :) but half of the ten pictures this month are from the trip.

With the weather turning, it’s now time for long bike rides through Brandenburg. Of particular interest in these four photos is the Zehrensdorf Indian Cemetary maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The cemetary (UK spelling) honors the remains of over 200 Indian soldiers who fought with the Allies in the first world war.
