Three cities are name-checked in this collage, New Dehli, Perleberg (actually a small town in Brandenburg, not a city) and Munich. Scotland is mentioned, though as an adjective, “schottisher Whisky.”
If we’re being pedantic, Munich isn’t literally name-checked. It’s where Flughafen Riem was located, until 1992 when the airport was replaced by Flughafen München.
I don’t know if anything out of the ordinary happened at Flughafen Riem on April 10th (year unknown) but on March 4th, 1994 Nirvana performed their final concert ever at the airport-turned-concert venue.
Some interesting things did happen on April 10th though, including:
The first publication of The Great Gatsby, 1925
The Titanic sets sail for the first and only time, 1912
The births of:
Bunny Wailer, 1947
Q-Tip, 1970
Kenneth Noland, 1924
Mandy Moore, 1984
I could try mapping the connections between all of these events and people, but I’m all out of red string and I don’t have a large enough cork board on the studio wall. Nevertheless, there’s a lot going on here.
