Zehn Fotos, Januar

In January we got a bit of snow, continuing the trend of “long fall, late winter” we’ve had for the past few years.

January also saw a lot of protests. The top two images here are from a gathering outside the CDU offices in Berlin, not long after Friedrich Merz said, then said he didn’t really say, that working with the AfD would be okay if, you know, maybe we just all happened to vote for the same things, but it wasn’t actually like we would be working together for the same goals. Or something.

The weather wasn’t ever really too cold for a walk or bike ride though, so I got out around the Rummelsberger See a couple times, and of course walked along the Spree. My first job in Berlin started in the under-construction building in the bottom right photograph, but it was only maybe half the height at that point.

I also took myself on a long walk along the east side of Tegeler See, where I’d not been for perhaps a year. I like it over there a lot. Next time I’ll go along the western side, where I’ve ridden my bike a bunch. There one can find some of the best gravel riding close to Berlin. It’s mostly flat, but there are a couple flowy sections and Tegeler Forst is large enough that it’s never very full.
